We’ve been traveling around the Pacific Northwest for weeks now, and before we left Oregon state there was one thing we HAD to do. Journey deep into the wild Oregon forests surrounding Mt. Hood in search of a mythical, ancient, or even extraterrestrial creature: Sasquatch.
Ben and I have always been enthralled with other-worldly creatures, alien, cryptid, or unknown species. So while we were in the pacific northwest, a well-known Bigfoot hotspot for encounters and sightings, we decided to do a bit of research and head out on our own expedition, in search of the great Ape, or at least evidence of its existence.
We didnt have high expectations, and we’re not professionals, but our encounters while out in the woods have converted us to full believers! And plus, we got to spend a lot of time with one of Ben’s close friends, Thad.
Thad is a Bigfoot expert who also travels in his truck and camper. He agreed to meet up with us outside of Mt Hood for this adventure, and lent us a hand in our quest.
If you’re interested in going on your own Bigfoot adventure, do some research before you head out and keep a few things in mind.
1. Know the area. Don’t trespass on private land and bring the appropriate gear for the terrain. Check for other Bigfoot sightings reported in that area, and what other species of wildlife could be there
2. Watch the weather. Especially around mountain areas, weather can change unexpectedly and dramatically
3. Never go alone. It’s never a great idea to venture into the woods by yourself, even if you arent looking for a giant ape man
4. Get to know Bigfoot. Research the proper equipment, strategies for calling and observing, and recording a possible Sassy encounter
5. Enjoy the great outdoors! Leave no trace and be respectful of the land and any creatures who inhabit it
